This year I set 34 goals and intentions for myself. One of those personal goals for the year is to be more intentional about fitness. More specifically my goal is to run at least one marathon. I am so excited to share that this October I’m participating in the San Diego Fire Rescue 5k & Kids Run. I would love for you to join me at this fun, family-friendly event. Keep reading for where to register and to get a special discount code for $5 off!
Why You Should Attend
There are so many reasons to attend this event. I know you’ll have your own reasons to come, but here’s why we think you should go…
To support our local firefighters! To kick off Fire Prevention Week, the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation is holding a 5K Run/Walk & Kids Run. The run not only allows San Diegans to have fun running with local firefighters but it also raises much needed funds for the foundation. The money helps support their mission of providing enhanced equipment, training, and to support their community education program.
Another one of my goals is to volunteer and support others. The San Diego Fire Rescue 5k & Kids Run offers the perfect opportunity to do just that. By attending this event my family will be able to show some love to the men and women who risk their lives for others every day. It’s also a great time to discuss with your children the importance of supporting others.
To get the whole family to exercise. This event is for the entire family. It’s a great way to get the family moving as a whole. We try to practice this as much as possible. It’s important to show our kids how important it is to keep our bodies in shape. The San Diego Fire Rescue 5K & Kids Run has something for everyone and offers several divisions including: 5K Run/Walk, 5K Run/Walk Stroller Division, 5K Public Safety Division, 1-mile Kids Run and a 100 meter Sparky Sprint. And the best part is, firefighters will run along with participants and meet them at the finish line to hand out finisher’s medals! How cool is that?
To experience the Fire Safety Expo. The Expo features firefighter demonstrations, SDFD specialty divisions including Bomb Squad, Hazmat and Heavy Rescue. Also present will be Sparky the Fire Dog, San Diego Project Heart Beat, CERT San Diego, San Diego Lifeguards, SDG&E Fire Safety House and more. *Expo is free to the public!
