About

Hey there! My name is Angela, and I am wife to a loving husband and mommy to two beautiful kids. My favorite girl, and my favorite boy.

Welcome to The Pinky Project, a blog I started back in 2010 when I had no clue what I was doing as a new mom. After all this time, I’m still not convinced I know what I’m doing. Shh…don’t tell anyone. 🤫

I write here to share my personal stories, adventures, and experiences to encourage and inspire you, whether you’re the tired mom, the family going through a difficult season, living your best life, or the woman who is so excited to plan a trip on a budget.

Whoever you are, wherever you are, I pray the words and images on these pages speak to you. That they bring a smile to your face, that you can relate, and that you find comfort in knowing that you are not alone in your journey because you’re not.

I also write here for myself because it’s healing. I write because everyone has a story, and every story matters. I write to practice and improve my writing. I write as a form of expression of my feelings and my creativity.

Some days, I’m still trying to convince myself that my story holds any weight. Then, I think that if I can help someone, that’s good enough for me.

I write for my kids wondering if they’ll read these posts one day. I write with gratitude in all things, lessons learned, and celebrations.

Take a look around, as of 2023, I’m getting back into the groove of things. When I feel stuck or want to break a creative block, I come back to writing, so here I am. Most of what you’ll find here is focused on family, parenting, and lifestyle, and I’m really excited to write about or travels. I look forward to where this part of the journey takes me, and you.

Meet the Family

My Favorite Girl

The Pinky Project got its name from my daughter. When she was little, she always stick her little pinky up whenever she was in a peaceful state, hence the name. I wasn’t thinking about having another baby at the time so this is the name we’re sticking. My daughter is a teenager who is creative at heart and loves to dance, or shall I say, lives to dance! She’s currently homeschooled. It’s been quite the journey. She’s as blunt at they come but is also very sweet. Her smile can light up any room, and the kindness in her heart radiates like the sun. I know I’m her mother, but as my first child, she has taught me so much about growing up. She, and her brother, are my driving force to make a difference in the world around us.

My Favorite Boy

The moment I was pregnant I knew he was a boy. I think God knew I needed one of each. My son is the sweetest, but will also call you out. He values trust, family, and fun! He’s still asks a ton of questions, which I love, except when we’re trying to watch a movie, haha. His thing is basketball, so we’re doing our best to nurture his passion and gifts, just like we did our girl. He’s still into Hot Wheels, LEGOS, Nerf guns, and all types of games. He enjoys beating me in chess, but can’t stand when his dad beats him. He’s also homeshcooled and in elementary, not a fan, but we’re working through the kinks. Right now, I’m holding on to his sweet innocence and big bear hugs because he’s at that age where he doesn’t do kisses anymore.

My Favorite Husband

Is that a thing? Haha. I promise, I only have one, and I love him so much. As I write this, we’re set to celebrate 23 years of being together and being married 17 of those years. We have grown into a great team. He also taught me a lot about life, growing up, sharing, and how to let someone else take care of me. I’m still working on that last one, but we are working through all the things, one thing at a time. We are at a place where our kids are older but still find it hard to plan a decent date night. So instead, we settle for early morning coffees, daydreaming, and sometimes short walks.

We’re both rooted in San Diego. I was born and raised here, he migrated from the Philippines when he was 5 years old. Both of our entire immediate families live in America’s Finest City. Since the pandemic, he’s been able to work from home, which we love. He’s very much into all things martial arts and can pretty much learn anything on his own. He’ll write a blog post here once in a while so keep an eye out. Cheers to this incredible dad and my husband!
