Four years of dance flew by! I cannot believe my growing little girl is going to perform in her fourth production at Dance & Company this summer. She’s proudly telling everyone that she’s going to be on stage yet again, and this time, two times! “I’m gonna be on stage two times!” This is the first year she’ll be performing in two dance numbers. It’s exciting for all of us.
It seems like yesterday she started her first class wearing that adorable pink tutu. I knew she would love dance. I danced a lot while she was in my belly. The first chance I could, I signed us up for Mommy and Me dance classes at the local rec center. When it was time to go into the studio on her own, it was quite challenging for her. With a lot of hugs, perseverance and patient instructors it was about 6 months before I was able to leave the room and watch my girl dance from the window. But it was all worth it! Look at how far she’s come.
I have to say, this is one of my favorite parenting stories with Pinky. I’m just so thankful she didn’t give up, I didn’t give up and the studio didn’t give up. She has so much potential and I only want to help her shine.
These days she’s exploring new styles of dance like hip hop and jazz! She’s even going to be in her school’s play as a Dancing Doll! Mind you, she’s in kindergarten. I love that she’s taking risks and using her talents in other areas of her life. I can’t wait to see where dance takes her. For now, I’ll just revel in her next performance…with YOU!
Consider this your invitation! Join us to watch Pinky perform in her fourth production. You’ll make her one happy girl and you’ll also be supporting local performing artists and San Diego youth. All the details are below. We hope to see you there. Spread the word!
