There are a few things I know I can count on, and look forward, to every date night 1) good conversation and 2) good food!
Date nights have been the glue, the saving grace if you will, that keeps our marriage sane, especially after having two kids.
I love Pinky and the Little Man so much, but once in a while, I’ve got to give my time and attention to Big Daddy!
After all, it started with just the two of us, right? And one day it will end with just the two of us.
Life Well Built
Good conversation and good food to me are the foundation for any good date night. It’s really all we need.
Occasionally, we get the luxury of good entertainment and maybe even a mini staycation. But let’s be honest, that’s not the norm. It’s all about going out and working with what we’ve got. And a decent dinner date is what we will take, any day!
Date nights are important for all relationships to flourish and to replenish. It’s a time for us to catch up on life, reminisce, share our dreams, and even our fears.
The conversation is what matters the most. Didn’t it all start with a, “hello?” That lead to, “Pick me up at 8!” And eventually, “Will you” and “I do?”
We build our relationships one conversation at at time. The food, is a bonus. It brings us together, it’s common ground.
Food can be a new adventure when you’re trying something new together for the first time. Food brings comfort. It brings back memories. It creates memories.
And that is why a life well built, truly starts with food well built.
Food Well Built
We recently went on a dinner date at STACKED in Fashion Valley. It’s a fun place to eat. They pride themselves in giving guests what they want, how they want it, when the want it.
Although there are servers who take care of your table, they’ve developed an innovative ordering approach that puts your destiny, as it pertains to your meal, into your own hands.
You’re able to literally build your meal with quality ingredients with the push of a few buttons on their tabletop kiosks.
Because we hadn’t been to STACKED in a while it was nice for my husband and I to get reacquainted with the restaurant while remembering our previous dates there and trying to figure what our usual order was.
No one climbing our laps, or the table. The opportunity to eat and enjoy one another’s company uninterrupted. Something we’ve been craving for more than what we were about to stuff our faces with.
We explored the menu, enjoyed the Friday night scene and placed our order.
We started our with the Stacked Nachos…they were so good and surprisingly very light.
I’ll admit, I came for the beef, but I was drawn to the new Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich. We ordered one to share with pepper jack cheese and a side of garlic fries with garlic aoli sauce.
We devoured it. The chicken was so crispy and flavorful. I’d definitely order it again. I’ll have to remember to smash the bun own to make sure I can grab a good size bite.
There really is nothing like a good old fashioned dinner date. As the late Notorious B.I.G. said so bluntly…
A t-bone steak, cheese eggs and Welch’s grape
Conversate for a few, ’cause in a few, we gon’ do
What we came to do, ain’t that right, boo. True!
