We partnered with Device Tree to write this post. All opinions are my own.
Are you one of those people who feel naked without their phone?
It’s pretty crazy, how much we have come to depend on our smart phones. Think about it. Our phones are host to our precious photos, our contacts, our entertainment, even our work.
Our phone is in many ways our lifeline!
For something we put so much trust and information in, it makes sense to take good care of it.
A Tale of Unfortunate Events
I’ve had my iPhone 5s for over two years now. I’ve taken care of it well, but due to normal wear and tear and a tantrum from my 3 year old son, my phone was unreliable for a few months.
The original diagnosis for my phone was a fried battery. I was all set to have my carrier replace my phone for only $5, but my phone was on back order for 21 days. It was definitely inconvenient, but I figured I’ve had this ongoing issue for so long what’s another 21 days, right?
Wrong!
The only thing I had to do was make sure my phone didn’t experience any water damage or cracks before my phone replacement arrived. This is what I was most nervous about since my kids are always stealing my phone. This is where my 3 year old’s tantrum comes in.
We were heading out the door and he wanted to watch on my phone. In my effort to be firm and limit screen time I gave him a stern, “No!”
As I was saying goodbye to our friends my little man, in tears, knocks my phone out of my hand and I hear an unfamiliar sound. The sound of my phone screen shattering! I was so upset, livid you might say. My friend kindly tells all the kids to give me a break. All I want to do is scream of course because I was so close to receiving my replacement phone. With Christmas fast approaching I was in no position to pay the deductible for the cracked screen. Ugh!
Phone Carrier Woes
Can you believe I’ve been a loyal customer with the same carrier for over 12 years? I’m somewhat satisfied with our service, but being a loyal customer doesn’t always have its perks. At least not the ones I needed at this time.
Now that my phone was cracked I was going to have to pay a deductible of $175.00 to get it fixed on top of the $5 to replace it. Needless to say, this was my first claim ever with my 5s!
The worst part is my phone had come into the store a day before it cracked but I was never notified because of technical difficulties! Ahhh!
So here were my problems…
- I already pay about $20 a month to insure my phone, it has minimal coverage
- My battery was fried and I needed to pay $5 to replace it, but it was going to take 3 week
- My phone screen cracks and now my insurance will not cover any damage unless I pay $175
- Data transfer is a pain and my computer wasn’t recognizing my phone…even if my replacement phone was ready, I wasn’t.
For being a loyal customer, I didn’t feel like I was getting the royal treatment.
Then my friend introduced me to Device Tree San Diego. They had the solutions to all my problems.
Device Tree San Diego
Device Tree San Diego is an authorized device repair center located in Point Loma. I used the contact form on their site and shortly after I received a response from the owner, Dean. He is such an awesome guy!
I told him my situation and brought my phone in for diagnostics. Dean was so confident and so familiar with my device I had nothing to worry about. Repairs usually take about half an hour. Although I could have stayed and hung out at their coffee bar, I decided to take my daughter home for lunch. The environment is so welcoming. I’d actually consider hosting an event there. Wink! Wink!
Before I took off though I had a nice chat with Dean about Device Tree. They have some exciting things through the pipeline, but what we focused on are the amazing services they currently provide.
Device Tree is qualified to diagnose and repair the following problems, including mine…
• Cracked/broken screens/digitizers
• Cracked LCD’s (color issues/dead pixels)
