Last week, Daddy and I bought Pinky a book, A Potty Just for Me by Karen Katz. Originally we wanted to get a book that would tell her it’s okay to go number 2! She’s been withholding if you know what I mean.
Ever since we got the book, Pinky has been asking us to read it to her multiple times a day. I was so excited and impressed that she was interested in learning about going potty in the potty! Grandma and Grandpa bought her a princess potty pan for her 1st birthday and it’s been sitting in our bathroom ever since. She uses it as a stool, a seat and occasionally will sit on it, after she’s taken off her already soaked diaper. I decided I wasn’t going to rush the potty training process for her. And so far, we’ve let her decide when she is ready for what.
This past week, the same week we’ve been reading the potty book to her, she asked Grandma if she could sit on the potty. And she made a little, tiny tinkle. Baby steps…
Come Friday morning, I wake up give Pinky her morning kiss and tell her I have to go pee. She follows me and says baby pee too. So we rush to the bathroom, take of her diaper, which was not wet by the way. We sit on our toilets and wait…at least she does! She goes a little, then stands up to see if anything is there. I tell her to sit down, wait and finish. I explain to her that she will be going more. Then IT happened. She peed, she released a full bladder into her pink princess potty!
We had a moment! Yes, in the bathroom! She was SO excited and so was I! She gave me a high 5 and a huge hug. I could just tell she was proud of herself. We called Daddy immediately to tell him the great news.
I should backtrack and tell you that between those two days, she insisted on wearing panties (kitty aka Hello Kitty panties). She had two accidents. I was surprised at how she reacted though. She was freaking out, maybe because she didn’t like the feeling. I was surprised, because the book addresses this accident and the moms reassures baby that it’s okay, which is what I did. I think she was a little disappointed, I felt bad for her. I continued to reassure her that everything was okay!
Anyway, I think we still have a long way to go, but this is definitely a start and a milestone for Pinky! We are so proud of her!

Congrats! The first pee in the pot is always fun. We cheered for my son like crazy. Potty training is definitely a process, she’ll get it 🙂

Good job Nana Bear! When we make her video montage for her quince, debut, & wedding, we’ll make sure this pee picture makes it in there. Haha!
