One of our favorite is chili with corn bread and all the fixins! I used to cook this on the stove, but recently discovered that it is much easier to make in the crock pot, and it tastes better to!
It literally takes me ten minutes to prep, makes 6-8 servings and costs only costs $10…that’s if you buy generic brands! We have a smaller crock pot, so if you have a larger one I think it would be safe to double the ingredients.
Without further adieu…let’s get cooking! Joann Woolley, this one’s for you 🙂
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 smoked sausage link – we love Farmer John’s pork sausage
(1) 15oz Can tomato sauce
(1) 15oz Can fire roasted diced tomatoes
(1) 15oz Can red kidney beans with juice (do not drain)
(1) 15oz Can corn drained
1 packet taco seasoning
Instructions
Throw it all in the pot and mix 🙂
Seriously, season your meat and place into crock pot. Add all canned ingredients. Slice smoked sausages and add to pot. Mix taco seasoning and all ingredients in the pot.
Cook on slow for 6 hours, or high for 3 hours!
Quick Tip: Mix the chili in the middle half way through to keep your meet from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Top with sour cream, shredded cheese and onions! Serve with corn bread – a box of Jiffy is only 50 cents or less!
Enjoy! Let me know how it turns out for you.
