This year, we have so much to be thankful for!
October 2011 marked Mommy and Daddy’s 5 year wedding anniversary! It seems just like yesterday Daddy and I walked down the aisle at Bali Hai, bought our first piece of real estate, and together brought Pinky into this world!
We were so fortunate to celebrate at one of San Diego’s finest hotels, The Manchester Grand Hyatt. After spending our 4th of July Weekend there this year, we couldn’t get enough. After all, Seaport Village is a family favorite. The Grand is definitely a place for grand celebrations, those special moments in our lives! Cheers for champagne compliments of the hotel.
After dropping Pinky off to her grandparent’s for her first intentional sleepover, Daddy and I headed downtown to check in. I took a long, hot shower, something I’ve learned to appreciate now that I’m with child. Just as we were getting ready to leave for dinner, we were pleasantly surprised with a chilled bottle of champagne, a bowl of chocolates, and a sweet greeting card wishing us a Happy Anniversary! Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved hotels…and this is why! The staff made us feel like VIPs on our special day. It really is the little things that make a big difference.
We started off the evening with a nice brisk walk to Sally’s Seafood on the Water. Sally’s is a part of the Manchester Grand Hyatt experience, sitting on the water, overlooking the boats on the marina. It is a beautiful, romantic location complete with fine wine and dine, perfect for our occasion. Daddy and I had a three course meal, and the food was simply amazing. One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time for sure. Hands down, the most flavorful crab cakes our taste buds have ever experienced. My only regret is not ordering more. They also have a mouth watering almond flavored gelato. Here’s what we ordered…try not to drool.
Grilled Fish Plate
I don’t know if it was the fact that we had no distractions, or if it was just the culinary charm of Sally’s that allowed all my five senses to be stimulated that evening. Everything smelled and tasted so wonderful. Likewise, the presentation of each plate was an art piece in itself.
We spent the rest of our evening relaxing in our hotel room, watching TV, and enjoying our complimentary amenity. The first, technically second night away from Pinky, but a night for ourselves, for each other. A night we both deserved and have been waiting for…for a long time!
The next morning we took advantage of another one of the Manchester Grand Hyatt’s fine dining restaurants, Lael’s Restaurant, but not before taking a stroll along the boardwalk. It felt good to wake up early and take in the crisp, cool, fall air! It helped build an appetite too. We actually are no strangers to the Grand Breakfast Buffet, only $24 (plus tax and gratuity) gets you waffles, omelettes, crisp bacon, sausage, all the cheese and cereal you can eat!
All in all, we indulged in everything the Manchester Grand Hyatt had to offer. We didn’t have to travel far to have a great time. As you can see, all we needed was at our disposal. The Grand is definitely a place for grand celebrations, and we highly recommend it to any individual, couple, family, local, or traveler looking for a place to relax and have a great time. We’ll be back again soon! Hopefully for the couples massage at Kin Spa.
Thank you, Manchester Grand Hyatt for helping us celebrate a milestone in marriage, our 5 year wedding anniversary! Daddy and I created amazing memories that will last a lifetime, thanks to you and your hospitable staff and impeccable service.
