The first time Pinky slept over at Grandma and Grandpas was out of my control. I was in Urgent Care for way too long, in pain, then drugged, then exhausted. I could not have taken care of her or breastfed her if I wanted.
This time, Mommy and Daddy are leaving her intentionally to bask in the presence of her Grandma, Papa, Auntie DiDi, Auntie BerBer and Uncle Moe Moe…and all 8 dogs she is so fond of!
I don’t think it’s hit me yet that she won’t be in bed with us for one whole night. We’ve been telling her that she’s going to get to spend the night with everyone and that it’s going to be fun. I am a little worried about leaving her because she is still breastfeeding and on top of that she’s a night feeder! I’m sure she’ll be fine though. Who knows, maybe she’ll start to wean a little!
I’ve been thinking of things that will help comfort Pinky while we’re away. She doesn’t have a favorite toy or blanky. I’m basically her security. Me and my Chi-Chi’s as she now calls them, thanks to Grandma!
So, the idea of recording myself reading one of her favorite books came to mind. You know, like the hallmark books that cost $20 where you can record your voice reading the story. Only I don’t have to spend any money. You can get creative and do your own version of this. Have someone video you while you are actually reading the book with your child on your lap, or just you reading the book. For the sake of time here is my version…which includes a little note and instructions for her Aunties!
