Summer has always been one of my favorite times of the year. Now that I’m a mom, I’ve discovered even more ways to enjoy the summer. I love watching Pinky experience things for the first time. This summer, she experienced her very first visit to Knott’s Soak City San Diego, compliments of Knott’s Soak City! All day long she was talking about the wa-wa (water)!
We arrived around noon, and it was already pretty full for a Thursday. Despite the crowd we found a nice spot on a nice grassy patch near the lazy pool, where our fun water adventures began.
Because Pinky is under 48″ she was required to wear a life jacket. Thankfully, they had a variety of sizes available at no additional charge. I was so happy that Pinky let me put the jacket on her. It was as though she knew it was going to keep her safe and secure.
It took a little while for her to get comfortable with the water, the people and all of the large floating devices passing by. We went around once and she was over it. Then we headed over to the Family Fun House. The Fun House is a great place for kids 5 and up. There are two junior slides and lots of places to explore and splash water! Although Pinky was intrigued by this playful palace, she still didn’t find her place here.
Finally, we walked across the way to Tyke’s Trough! This was more like Pinky’s cup of tea. I literally felt like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears trying to find just the right fit for her. It took a while, but we found it. Tykes Trough has 6 fun slides for kids 5 and under…perfect for Pinky! She went on down the slide probably close to 6 times. I walked her up and her Aunties and Uncles caught her down at the bottom of the slide. I was a proud mommy that day! Each time she reached the bottom, she shouted, “MORE!”
Mommy had a little bit of fun too. It’s always nice to travel with my family, because I can catch a break every now and then. I had the time of my life going down the Solana Storm Watch Tower. Thanks for my brother a.k.a Uncle Moe Moe for convincing me and Auntie Chicka to go. I went down the yellow uncovered tunnel…a mini version of the Coronado Express (another ride offered at the water park). This was my me time and my taste action for the day! Pretty exhilarating to be quite honest! Can you tell, I don’t get out much?!
As a mommy, you don’t get to participate in too much, but that’s okay. The day was was all about Pinky enjoying her first time with the family. We ended our four hour visit to Knotts Soak City at the Wave Pool, another one of Pinky’s faves! She fully enjoyed being splashed and getting hit by each passing wave. It was a tad too cold for me, but to see Pinky smile, tilt her head and laugh in amazement was worth every goose bump!
If you haven’t made it out to Knott’s Soak City yet, I highly recommend you make some plans to go before the summer ends. It’s a perfect place for a family outing. There is something for everyone to enjoy – thrilling rides, easy slides, and even tasty treats! You can opt to bring your own food, however you must leave it in the car and go out to eat it. If you get tired of being in the water you can play carnival games or lay out in the sun. Knott’s Soak City San Diego also offers cabana rentals which are fairly reasonable especially if you have a big group.
Best of all this water park is literally in our backyard, it’s not a big deal to travel to Chula Vista. Knott’s always has deals on ticket pricing so be sure to visit their website for more information and to plan your trip before the summer comes to an end. Last day of the season is September 25, 2011.
Finally, please go to Mira Mesa Mom and enter to win a Family 4 pack to Knott’s Soak City! Your family deserves one last mini vacation!

I definitely have to check out Soak City now! I’ve lived in SD all my life and still haven’t made my way down there. Now that I’ve read your review I may have to enlist an uncle or grandma to come help so I can have some fun as well 🙂

Oh, you definitely have to go, and make sure you bring someone to help with the kiddos so you can enjoy the rides! Thanks for reading! Good luck on winning the tickets!
