After attending three conferences in four days I was ready for date night with the husby. I loved being around successful, empowering women, but I needed my man. I ditched the girls, and hit downtown San Diego for a date night with Daddy for a casual evening.
We didn’t try anything new this time. We went to Panda Inn atop the Horton Plaza and had our usual tofu spicy eggplant and Phoenix chicken with brown rice, lettuce wraps for appetizers. Sometimes it’s nice to not have to think about what to order.
The point of this date night was not to try something new or adventurous, but to catch up! I’m normally not away from Pinky or Daddy for four days straight. Granted I went home each night, but we didn’t really connect. It was rough on all of us! Times like those make me realize how blessed I am to be primarily a stay at home mom!
So we connected, we caught up. Daddy told me about his adventures with Pinky since they got to spend the whole day together on Friday which is very rare. Of course, I talked about how inspired I was from all of the conferences I had attended. I was in heaven, conversing with my husband in downtown San Diego, not worrying about a thing! I love being married, but sometimes I miss being boyfriend and girlfriend. The anticipation of getting picked up for date night. The conversations that stem from not seeing each other for hours, sometimes days. The hand holding, being alone…a fire was reignited somewhere in our marriage that night. This is why I am such an advocate for parents to set aside time for date night. One on one time is so important. As married couples with children, life can be exhausting. Just like anything and everything else, we need to rejuvenate, gas up, whatever you want to call it.
After dinner we enjoyed the city we are so blessed to live in by walking up and down 5th and 6th avenue. We contemplated on getting coffee, stopping for a shake…but nah! We just reveled in one anothers company, held hands and dated!
Happy Date Night, Happy Couples!
