I have to be honest, I didn’t know there was such a day! This morning I was going through my twitter feeds and saw that San Diego Bargain Mama was greeting Savvy Auntie a Happy Auntie’s Day! It turns out TODAY is the 3rd Annual Auntie’s Day sponsored by the Savvy Auntie herself! Please check out her site if you are an Auntie, you know an Auntie and you love your Auntie’s and your children’s Auntie’s! Phew, that means all of you!
Savvy Auntie is guide for cool aunts, great-aunts, godmothers, and all women who love kids. I love what she is doing because if you’re like my family, Auntie’s (and Uncle’s) play a hug part in raising my daughter. In our culture, out of respect every woman older than you is referred to as Auntie! I was an Auntie before I was a Mommy and it helped tremendously in my transition to motherhood!
Anyway, without further adieu, Happy Auntie’s Day to all the Auntie’s in our lives. And, thank you to the Ultimate Auntie, Melonie Notkin for making a holiday to celebrate our loving Auntie’s…you all deserve it. Please read her awesome article about why Auntie’s Deserve a Day at Psychology Today!

I’m so excited to learn about this! I am worried I will forget about it for next year – gotta create a calendar reminder! Thanks! It is such a wonderful thing that I wish would transcend more into American culture – referring to all women older than you as Auntie – creates a great bond

I read the auntie article and I love it!

Joann, I’m just as excited as you are to know about this holiday. We’ll have to remind each other about it. It’s definitely going on my calendar for next year and every year! I hope you all had a Happy Auntie’s Day! Thank you for reading!
