Last Saturday was Pinky’s first time at the San Diego County Fair. And our first time going to a Bruno Mars concert (woot)! For both, the first of many! I tried something new with my photos here (playing around with Photoshop) to try and stick to what I thought was the theme? Not sure if it’s good or bad. Let me know. Enjoy!
Pinky had a great time feeding the livestock…
I didn’t get it a shot, but she was really into Auntie Chicka’s frozen yogurt cone! Darn, Mommy Fail. She screamed bloody murder when we took it away from her. This is probably the reason why I didn’t get a picture, so I don’t feel half as bad!
Pinky was actually very interested in things that were in the sky! When we first walked into the fair, she noticed the Skyrider (I think that’s what they’re called)! Oooohhh!
She was also extremely amazed and entertained by the bungie jumpers. Is this a sign of things to come? I hope not. I don’t think I can take watching my child jump from 13 stories into thin air. She’s wild and crazy, but please Lord, have mercy!
Mommy, Daddy and Tia Locita left Pinky, Grandma and Auntie Chicka to head over to the Grand Stage for the Bruno Mars concert! I was so excited. When we got there, Mayor Hawthorn was performing, I had no idea who they were so we went to get hot dogs, nachos and soda instead! Unfortunately, our seats weren’t so great, but we made the most of it. During the two opening acts including Janelle Monet, I began feeling guilty for leaving Pinky…I really missed her. I thought to myself, this show better be worth it, and it was! At least once Bruno got on stage! Not to say, that anything else is worth more than my Pinky…but you catch my drift!
It was a very classy performance, as Daddy described it! I absolutely loved everything about it – the song choices, the transitions, and so one…it was such a simple show. No gimmicks, just Bruno Mars! He was so engaging with the audience and he didn’t address this crowd as “San Jose”, like someone we all know…okay, we forgive you Lady! Rather, he called us by name, several times! When it was all said and done, I wanted more! And more is what we all got. He ran back on stage, after introducing the band and saying his thanks you’s and goodbyes…to sing one last time, “Talking to the Moon” under the Del Mar moon! Loved it!
When the concert was over. My sister slapped me in the face when she said, “you missed out!” There I was again, feeling guilty for enjoying myself. I know she was just joking, but then I remembered that it was Pinky’s FIRST time at the fair and I was sitting in a box seat surrounded by strangers listening to this doo-wop and hooligan! Pinky was fast asleep. Auntie Chick thankfully took some video and pictures. It made me feel better that Pinky enjoyed herself, hardly looking for Mommy or Daddy. According to Auntie Chicka’s report, she danced the night away, tried to meet some new friends, and even jumped on stage! Here she is with her fair takeaways the following day!
The fair was so fun…and of course delicious. The main reason we ever go to the fair is for the food. We had our usual fair foods – Australian beer battered potatoes, roasted corn with all the Mexican fixings, garlic battered mushrooms, hot dogs, and yogurt! Looking forward to more corn and maybe a fried twinkie!
Stay tuned as I reveal some of our favorite things to do at the fair as well as some tips we’ll be sharing for a fabulous fair experience. In the meantime, race on over to the fair and tell me what you like!
