Tuesday was Pinky’s 17 month birthday! I try to do something a little special every month to celebrate. This month we were shooting for story time with her baby sign language teacher, Joann Woolley of Sign4Baby. We were totally late, but stopped in to say hello.
It worked out well though, because we played, discovered and explored. Story time was at the N. University City Library! I was so impressed at the cleanliness of the park, the library and the grounds in general. They even had iron gates, built in good taste mind you, surrounding the play area. They aren’t easily opened which is great for parents with mischievous children, like me. Even though we missed story time we discovered a beautiful place. Pinky will also be taking her dance classes at the rec center there too, so it really worked out perfectly because now we’ll know exactly where to go. This park is a great spot for one of Pinky’s future birthday celebrations too!
Anyway,I can’t believe how big and how fast Pinky has grown. Her little, I take that back, BIG personality is running all over the place, very wildly! She is such a ham, loves attention wherever she can get it, but she’s still very private. She loves to dance – especially to the Yo Gabba Gabba Dancey Dance episodes. I think her favorite right now is The Puppet Master (by Elija Wood), but she also likes The Peanut Butter Stomp (by Mya aka Daddy’s girlfriend)! Pinky has developed a new love for Disney characters, she enjoys the outdoors and recently started signing “thank you.”
She has developed her own language – really she just sounds like she can have a full blown conversation with you. Her vocabulary has expanded by a few words like more and mine! She is just so lovaeable and is breaking out every day into her own person. I can tell she’s going to do great things one day. Pinky has a huge heart, she’s caring, she enjoys the stage and she can’t get enough of Mommy or Daddy! But sometimes, she’d rather hand out with her Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents…but that’s okay, because they all love her too! I can’t say enough amazing things about our little girl. Don’t get me wrong, we have our ups and downs, but this post is all about the ups!
Pinky had so much fun playing in the sand. I’d been told by Tia Locita and Grandma that she was interested in sand, but I had never seen her in action before her 17 month birthday! Here she is exploring the sand in the sun! Enjoy!
