Yes, it is true…Daddy and I are GLEEKS. Him more than me. I know, it’s crazy, but really it’s true. It’s been quite devastating that we haven’t been able to keep up with the show since we canceled our DirectTV back in March. That and we have more grown up things to do. Although we still had some grown up business to handle during Gleek Week, we still set a few hours aside for the GLEE Concert on Sunday, May 29th. It was a little bit of a birthday celebration for Daddy and a little bit of a date night.
Where do I begin? With the homemade shirts that cost an arm and a leg or the fact that I missed the opening act because I was standing in line for a tasteless pretzel, a surprisingly delicious beef dog and a $5 bottle of soda. How about the fact that the Valley View Casino Center (Sports Arena sounded way better) was charging $20 for parking just because they knew people would pay. Ugggg…You never know what to expect at these events. In fact, this is exactly how I felt about the entire show. I didn’t know what to expect… a story, random songs from the show, were Schuester and Sylvester going to make an appearance??? Oh questions I had. I was excited, but a little lost at the same time. Maybe if I had been watching the show on a regular basis I may have been more teeny bopperish! Then I realized, it wasn’t Glee, it was me!
Okay, enough badgering already. Daddy, don’t get me wrong I had a great time. Those nearly $300 tickets gave us an experience to share and remember for the rest of our lives as well as some much needed quality time.
A Funny Story…
Before I move on, let’s rewind back to when were buying the tickets because I love telling this story. Tickets officially went on sale months ago on a Saturday morning at 10am. Daddy, Pinky and I all jumped out of bed, turned on the computer and began searching Ticket Master for the best available seats. As Daddy and I are being rushed to make a decision by the Ticket Master 2 minute count down timer, shouting passionately at each other about seating and strategy, something happens to the computer. It slowly dies, but it doesn’t just shut off, the screen turns green, it gives a little sign, and it literally looked as though our desktop computer was flat lining! Daddy and I both scream, NOOO! We were in the middle of making a very crucial decision. We look for Pinky, look down on the floor and there she is pulling her little pointer finger off of the power button. I swear, she knew we were going to be leaving her that’s why she devised her evil plan to stop us from buying our tickets. Daddy tries to resuscitate, but it doesn’t come back for a while…seemed like eternity. Finally, we’re back on, hoping there are still some decent seats left after being off of Ticket Master a whole 10 minutes. After convenience fees, taxes and the actual tickets, Daddy found some seats, front and center! . Thank God!
Back to your normal programming…
Now going back to the day of the concert! Here we anxiously waiting in line. We got there pretty early, Daddy took a secret route to get us there gleefully faster!
The stage view from our seats!
The only memorabilia worth buying. For a full look of what’s inside, click here. I don’t have the time nor the energy to take photos myself! You can also see the pricing of all the merchandise sold at the GLEE Concert.
We were far from the main stage but I did have binoculars, which gave me a headache after the show, but well worth having. It was very exciting I must say seeing the cast perform live on stage! Daddy got to hear some of his favorite mash ups – “Jessie’s Girl” by Cory Monteeith (Finn), “Valarie” Naya Rivera (Santana). Some of my personal faves were Heather Morris’ (Britanny) performance of Britney Spears’, “I’m a Slave for You” and Chris Colfer’s (Kurt) classic performance of “Single Ladies”! I also loved “New York” by the entire Glee cast – something about that song had everyone out of their seats swaying back and forth with their hands up in the air! Good music has that affect on people. It was fun experiencing it with Daddy, and Auntie Jojo who was also there!
I did wish the Warblers did their “Bills, Bills, Bills” number however they did do “Teenage Dream” which more than made up for it. Anyway, here I am giving you all the goodies. Go watch the show, or find some tickets to scalp. Just kidding!
Overall, I can’t say I didn’t have fun. In fact I had a blast. I’m looking forward to a bigger and better show next year though! Right, Daddy!?
Daddy
I had a blast, all I can say is we’re going again next year. I loved that story also about Pinky sabotaging our efforts. She’s so smart.
Mommy
I had a blast too Dear! Can’t wait until next year. Closer seats!?
