This week, Daddy picked our Date Night destination, or shall I say destinations. First we went to Panda Inn atop the Horton Plaza. We went to Panda Inn back in March for cousin JoSalle’s Birthday, we had the Phoenix Chicken and could not stop thinking about it! So we went to fulfill our cravings. Afterward, we went to the famous Ghiradelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop for some yummy old fashioned shakes.
I love walking around downtown, there is so much to see and I enjoy the hustle and bustle of the crowds crossing the street. Everyone has a place to go; and you know they’re all going to have fun! I literally felt high and dunk that night. I was so overpowered with excitement. Maybe because it was Good Friday? After our Date Night on the way home to pick up Pinky, it hit me…I was high off chocolate and drunk with love, yes ladies and gentlemen…I fell in love with my husband all over again. That’s what Date Nights are all about. It doesn’t matter where you go or what you do, as long as you take time to spend time with each other away from the kid(s). Take time to really focus on each other, to realign your dreams, your goals and ambitions. I feel like Daddy and I did this a lot this weekend and it felt really good. We laughed, we discussed topics we hadn’t brought up in a long time and just enjoyed each others company – mind, body and soul!
I know this is a little backwards but, I feel like it was important for me to say that. I’ll keep the rest short and straight to the point, unlike my other Date Night posts.
So we started off our date at Panda Inn. If you haven’t been there, they serve delicious Mandarin cuisine; and it’s not too heavy on the pocket book. Daddy and I ate here before heading over to prom over 10 years ago. And that was the last time we had been there prior to cousin JoSalle’s birthday dinner.
Customer Service, was okay. Daddy felt a little rushed towards the end of our meal. We almost got a dish we didn’t order and I don’t know if it was because we were starving, but the food took forever to come out.
We ordered, Mushu Wraps with chicken and an amazing duck sauce, the Phoenix Chicken and the Tofu & Spicy Eggplant served with brown rice! Hmmm…I think I know why our stomachs were turning, all the food we ordered was SPICY! But it was delicious. I hate to say though, my last bite of eggplant was completely bitter, which then left a bitter taste in my mouth, literally. Other than that last bitter eggplant, everything was very good.To top it off we didn’t spend that much and we even got our white chocolate dipped fortune cookies wrapped in pretty foil – read our fortunes in the image above. We didn’t order dessert because we had plans to get chocolate wasted!
We walked off that Chinese food to get to the famous Ghiradelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop! The walk from Panda Inn to Ghiradelli was equally exciting as the food we indulged in that night. We passed what seemed like a religious group of people singing and playing instruments wearing robes and flip flops. I almost stepped in a fairly large puddle of vomit and we stopped to applause a guy who was acting like a mime, but didn’t have the white painted face – then he did the same act about three times. It was interesting and I love people watching! Oh and we walked into this store called LOL San Diego. They don’t have a website up yet, but you will be hearing more about them from The Pinky Project. Daddy and I were really, Laughing Out Lout!
Anyway, I ordered a Nob Hill Chill – two scoops of vanilla ice cream blended with Ghiradelli’s hot fudge, topped with semi-sweet chocolate chips! Yummm! Daddy ordered a Cookies & Cream Shake, it lacked the WOW factor but still pretty okay. It’s hard to find anything wrong with a store filled with chocolate that smells like decadence, so I had no complaints here. ALthough we thought there was a long line, there wasn’t. We got in line, were handed a complimentary Ghiradelli chocolate filled with caramel, already opened for our convenience mind you, we ordered quickly and got our drinks fairly quickly. Just so you know, the shakes take a tad bit longer to make than the sundaes, which is understandable.
Date Night was awesome! I really enjoyed walking and talking with Daddy! We shared so much; and it was refreshing to remind ourselves of our dreams. We are forever grateful to our family who help watch Pinky while we go out gallivanting. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us keep our love alive, you know who you are. We love you!
