…well, almost! I can’t believe we are already in the middle of December and only one full week away from celebrating our First Christmas with Pinky! I’ve been so excited all month long, despite Pinky getting sick, and now Mommy being sick. There are so many things I still want to do and not enough time, or money…I can’t lie about that. I do believe; however that the things that don’t cost a thing are the things we tend to cherish the most, so I’m okay with not having enough money for everything we want, because we have everything we need!
I wanted to share a few things we’ve been doing over the past few weeks leading up to Christmas. You might recall my post on Holiday Happenings in San Diego. We’ve managed to officially cross two items off this list: The Holiday Hayride and Balboa Park December Nights – I’ll post about this later, I wasn’t too happy with the outcome, but nonetheless, we made the most of the experience. A few other activities I’ve added to the list are the more homey traditional type of activities, such as having a gingerbread/baking party, hanging stockings, having a tree in our humble abode for the first time, the 12 days of Christmas, Advent and the 25 Days of Christmas Photo Project…I keep adding as I go and I can’t keep up with myself. I want to do them all, but the reality is, I will have to improvise, be creative and know that I at least tried to make things happen this year. If anything there is always next year!
Anyway, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves as much as I can.
So the stockings weren’t hung by the chimney with care, but St. Nicholas will still be here! I opted to hang them on hooks by the door. I think it came out looking pretty good! But then, I had another idea to put ribbons on the hooks as a finishing touch…and we couldn’t forget Lolo’s stocking!
This year, I really, really, really…I mean really wanted a Christmas tree in the house no matter what I had to do. I wanted Alana to experience a complete Christmas and it just wouldn’t be complete without a tree. I have never been for the ‘fake’ tree, however considering our living quarters I had to be practical. However, I did want the decor to resemble a very traditional Christmas look, so I went with red and gold. We already had red ornaments, so that was a bonus. And our scrawny little tree cost us only $20 +tax. Thanks to my sisters who found the last one in all San Diego at nowhere other than the National City Big Lots! This tree needed a lot of love. Here it is in progress, before and after! It’s not the best, but it’s ours!
Recently, I added a Santa Bear with a bow as the tree topper. Pinky loves it and tries to take the ornaments off when she can.
zzzzZZzzz…Annnd…I’m falling asleep as I write about this, so I’ll save the rest for later. At least you can see a few things going on in our home so far. Hope everyone is enjoying their Holiday Season! Until next time!
