I’m a week behind and I had a week off! Anyway, this episode was really good. Here’s the short summary…
From the website: Adam confronts a man in defense of Max. Crosby and Jasmine delve into domestic discussions, beginning with the selling of Crosby’s boat.
The show starts out with an intense scene where Adam nails a guy in the face for calling Max retarded. This episode was focused on Crosby giving up his boat, his life, and his identity to become a family man. He was having a hard time parting with the boat that has been by his side through thick and thin. I’m sure we’ve all felt this way about something at one point. Other exciting news, Sarah’s shoe clicker idea turns out to be a flop, but still has a late night celebration with Gordon; Haddie reveals her feelings for Alex (practically her boss at the shelter), but gets let down easily.
Since I’m late I’ll just dive into the lessons learned.
- Don’t hold your feelings or frustrations inside, they’re bound to escape somehow. Some people may think Adam was out of line when he punched a stranger in the face. I guess in retrospect it was. What the guy said was just plain wrong! There’s no question about it. However, we later find out that Adam’s punch packed a lot more than that man’s comment about Max.
- We have to face reality, sometimes we do and will act like our parents. Adam told Zeek, that he tried so hard to not be like him. Zeek admired that Adam was always in control. Adam realized that he couldn’t control anything; and when he broke down, he realized that he was just like his father. Now for me, I think Adam just realized how hard it was and still is to be a father, a family man and a man of honor at that. Sometimes we’re gonna screw up and we just have to roll with the punches, literally in his case! After Adam talked to Zeek he confessed to Kristina what happened and she was so supportive in helping him find ways to reduce his stress.
- With sacrifice, comes reward. It’s simple, easier said than done. Crosby wanted to hold onto his boat, but he couldn’t if he wanted to move on and build a family with Jabbar and Jasmine. In the end, he may have put the boat up for sale, a small sacrifice, for the family he always wanted and never thought he’d have, his ultimate reward.
- Remember, that your failures take you one step closer to your successes. Gordon shows Sarah his book of sketches, one sketch in particular was a complete failure. He said he kept the sketch to remind him that, even though he might have failed, he didn’t stop trying to make it to the top!
- Grow Up! We’ve all heard the Toys R’ Us song, “I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Toys R’ Us Kid…” Truth be told, we must grow up when it comes to matters of life, our daily struggle to survive! We shouldn’t worry our children by being out late gallivanting with another man, especially when we want their respect. We should sell our material things, in exchange for the intangible, we should set the example for our children, and take time out to keep ourselves sane!
This was a good episode. I really enjoyed the scene where the brothers and sisters were hanging out in the boat sharing their boat memories. I loved that Sarah, Adam and Julia were all proud of their little brother’s ‘coming of age’! It reminded me on my siblings and how close we all are. I really hope one day Pinky will have siblings of her own that she can share even more adventures with.
