Milestone Monday: Feet First

Pinky has been surprising me everyday with something new. She’s been standing on her own for longer periods of time every day. It’s only a matter of time until she takes that first step and I just hope I have my camera ready. On Monday, she did a few new things out of the blue. One in particular caught me by surprise!

Ever since she started crawling I’ve been teaching her the safe way to get off the bed and onto the floor – feet first and not head first. Well, as always she got tired of waiting for Mommy to get out of bed so she decided to attempt to crawl herself out of bed. She moved to the edge of the bed and she started slowly inching her little body around in a circular motion. When I realized what she was doing, I let her go. Half way down she looked up and gave me the sweetest smile as to say, “did I do it right…aren’t you going to praise me now?” You could just see in her face that she knew she had done the right thing. She knew it was something that I had been trying to teach her and she got it!

Later that night she crawled off the couch while Auntie Chica was baby sitting her. I was telling Auntie the story and she was quick to say that Pinky was getting herself off the couch and onto the floor. She also said that Pinky gave her that same look. I cannot tell you how proud I am of my little girl! Check her out for yourself!
