My MomHero | My Mommy

Feliz Dia de los Madres! Today is Mother’s Day in Mexico! I have to honor that because I am 1/4 Mexican, and proud of it, thanks to my beautiful mom, Diana Robosa! She is pretty awesome and I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for her.

My Mom, is my ultimate MomHero. I’ve never told her that, but she is. I know I can take her for granted and I know I am not the best daughter in the world, and I know I can hurt her feelings in a way no one else can, but she still loves me! She is the most caring person I know. She is the most loving woman I know. It may be hard for me to accept, but I have learned a lot from her over the past 29 years. She may not have sat me down and taught me things, but just as any parent should, she has taught me a LOT through her actions, her kindness and through her unconditional love for me and my siblings.

You can find me complaining about my life as a mother, as a wife, as an individual, but nothing compares to the heartache I’ve watched my mother go through even to this very day. I may brag about the joys and successes I’ve had, but they won’t always compare to those my mom has experienced, at least not yet. Not to say that my joys and pains are worthless, they mean a lot. However, my mom knew them first. I’ve learned to be a stronger person because of her, I’ve learned from her mistakes, and I have learned how to be a great mom, from her, my mother.

My mom is the best, she just doesn’t seem know it. Yes, she has her flaws, but when it comes to being my mom, she has always done the very best she can. I can write all I want, tell her all I want, but I don’t think I’ll ever give her life and worth any justice. If you know her she is shy at first, but when you get to talk to her she can be so much fun!

We’ve had a lot of ups and downs in our time. I am her first daughter and I think that’s pretty special. Growing up, I used to feel like I was a mistake or an experiment, but she always made sure to remind me that I wasn’t. In her Mother’s Day card to me she apologized for not being the perfect mother, and for all the things that had happened in the past.I want to tell her to stop apologizing! The things that happened in the past, stay in the past, and I don’t hold anything against her. I’m glad she wasn’t the ‘perfect mother’ (there’s no such thing anyway) because it made things more interesting! Seriously, I understand now that no one is perfect. I want to move forward and focus on the NOW! She also told me what a great mother I am to my daughter, which means the world coming from her. Which reminds me, not only is my mom an awesome mom…she is the best grandmother Pinky could ever have.

My mom has suffered much pain, but through it all she has always stayed strong. She knows what it’s like to lose a father, a son and a mother. She’s put up with our crap, she works hard, and yet she always has time to help us out. She has raised 4 able children, whom if you ask she loves equally the same…she says she doesn’t have a favorite, but between us siblings, we have an idea who it might be. I truly believe that everything my mom has been through has helped mold her into the person she is today, whether she likes it or not. God has blessed her with a kind spirit, a beautiful soul and loving family with tons of stories to tell.
