Pinky’s First 4th of July

I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July weekend! If you’re unlike us, you are still enjoying a long weekend with the whole family. Unfortunately, Daddy had to work today! We’re hoping he get’s off early at least. We can’t complain though. Thank God he has a job.

Anyway, this was Pinky’s very first 4th of July weekend! I was so sad because I somehow forgot, but after both of us catching a bad cold I can’t be too hard on myself. I was so disappointed that we couldn’t find anything festive for her to wear at our local Target. We were going to watch our community parade and I wanted Pinky to show some spirit. So the morning of the 4th,  I pulled out a white onesie, my permanent markers, a clip board and got creative! Here is what came of it!

Happy First 4th of July to Pinky

My only regret was I didn’t think of it sooner. And yes, I made sure to clear out the smell of the markers before putting it on her. The best thing about this project will be telling her the story of how Mommy created her a somewhat festive make-shift onesie the morning of 4th of July! Even Daddy was impressed! And not to mention a few friends and a complete stranger!

Needless to say, we had a wonderful 4th of July – a nice walk, breakfast at IHOP, Mira Mesa Parade, much needed nap, family and fireworks! We stayed local and steered away from the big crowds at the beach. And as for the fireworks, Pinky slept through the entire thing, but managed to wake up right when I put her into bed! The important thing is that Pinky spent her Independence Day being ‘independent’ with her family – she definitely made a fashion statement since no one else had a onesie quite like hers!

We hope you enjoyed your 4th of July weekend! Enjoy the rest of your Summer!
